Nestled in the heart of Santiago de Compostela, Restaurante O Afiador serves a delightful homage to the rich culinary traditions of Galicia, Spain. Ideal for both locals and travelers seeking an authentic taste of the region, this charming restaurant is located at Rua do Valino, 2, 15703 Santiago de Compostela, A Coruna, Spain, and can be reached at +34 881 12 16 56.

At O Afiador, the menu features a tantalizing array of Galician specialties, where the focus is on high-quality ingredients and traditional preparation methods. The star of the show is undoubtedly the seafood rice, hailed as a budget-friendly gem at just €16. Comparatively, this exquisite dish shines much brighter than similar offerings found in tourist-heavy areas such as the Cathedral, where prices can skyrocket to around €60. Guests can also indulge in other local delights that showcase the bountiful resources of the Atlantic, making every meal a refreshing flavor journey.

The dining atmosphere is warm and inviting, enhanced by the friendly and attentive staff, who ensure that each guest feels like part of the family. Customer reviews emphasize this welcoming feeling, particularly highlighting the exceptional service provided by staff member Dulce. One satisfied visitor, Stephane Loties, described two visits within the span of just two days, praising the service and meat quality. Another reviewer, Blake McKinley, suggested not to miss out on the famously decadent brownie that comes highly recommended for dessert—an irresistible way to cap off your meal.

Moreover, O Afiador has garnered appreciation for its reasonable prices, making it a go-to spot for both hearty meals and an enjoyable dining experience. Ken Wong's review echoes this sentiment, drawing attention to how miscommunications could lead to unnecessary negative impressions when the food—and entire experience—are truly wonderful. Regardless of language barriers, the authentic Galician cuisine and atmosphere transcend any hurdles.

Your palate deserves the joy of exploration, and there’s no better place to embark on that adventure than at Restaurante O Afiador. Whether you’re a newcomer or a long-time visitor to Santiago de Compostela, this restaurant promises not just a meal, but a cherished experience rooted in Galician tradition and hospitality.

We've eat two times in two days in o Afiador last week and it was a good time. Meat quality were pretty good and the service (especially Dulce) was on top. Thanks to her and colleagues for these moments.

Great food, read all the bad reviews before coming to this place, people really need to use Google translate to communicate with the locals or translate the menus, the bad reviews are mainly due to mis-communication and wrongful assumptions, food here is really great and prices are locally reasonable, seafood rice only €16, it would cost around €60 at the Cathedral. I am sure you would never find a "quiet" football bar on this entire earth. We chosen to sit outside.

When I arrived I asked for water and a coffee. I was given a feast!
